The rum was founded in 1825 by John Wray when he bought 'The Shakespeare Tavern' but when Uncle Wray brought on his nephew, the rum became an international success hence the name!

The rum is produced from a combination of both pot and column distillation of a 30-hour fermentation of sugarcane, molasses wash, and proprietary house yeast.
